ACHIEVEMENTS:
• Our team systematically studied the nutritional requirements of fast-growing, medium-growing and slow-growing yellow chickens and yellow-feather broiler breeders, and provided 370 technical parameters of nutritional requirements. The metabolizable energy (ME) and amino acid availability of feed materials for yellow chickens were determined, and 420 technical parameters were provided.
• The operation procedures of meat quality assessment technology for yellow chickens were established. A batch of key nutrition and feeding technologies for the safe and efficient production of yellow chickens, such as anti-stress, improvement of intestinal health, meat quality regulation, improvement of breeding performance of breeding birds, and safe and efficient utilization of feed resources, were proposed.
• Our team has developed a series of new feed products, including feed additives and premix for chickens and broiler breeders. Among them, the antioxidant functional additive "Yizhangsu" was rated as a national key new product.
• Our team won the Innovation Team Award of China Agricultural Science and Technology Award of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in 2012.
• The research result of "Research on Nutritional Requirements and Meat Quality Improvement Nutrition Technology of Yellow-feathered Broilers" won the first prize of Guangdong Science and Technology Award in 2014.
• The research result of “Anti-stress Feed New Technology and Product Promotion in Yellow-feathered Broilers” won the second prize of Agricultural Technology Promotion Award of Guangdong Province.
• We organized to formulate Chinese Agricultural industry standard "Nutrient Requirements for Yellow Chickens"(NY/T 3645-2020), and participated in the development of Chinese national standard "Compound Feed for Layers and Broilers"(GB /T 5916-2020), Group Standard of China Feed Industry Association"Compound Feed for Layers and Broilers"(T/CFIAS 002-2018), Group standards of Guangdong-Hongkong- Macao Great Bay Area Standards Promotion Council

Egg Quality and Production Unit
We research the poultry physiology and nutrition, especially in laying ducks and laying hens. We here try to establish the nutrient requirement of late-term laying birds in order to maximize the production performance and profit of laying birds. Egg quality, including nutritional value and eggshell quality represent key concerns from consumers. We research the mechanism related to flavor, nutritional deposition and shell formation in eggs, and accordingly explore strategy to improve nutritional and physical quality of eggs in chicken and ducks. Gut and liver health are of great concerns in affecting laying performance and morality in modern poultry production. We conduct research on nutritional strategy to improve the gut and liver health, aiming to increase the production performance of poultry. How to extend the peak production period and increase the egg production is this group have been looking for methods. The signaling pathway related to follicle atresia in late-term laying birds are studied, and modulation strategy are also explored.
