Scientific research platform and research achievements

• The research platform of nutrition and breeding of herbivores in Guangdong Province has been established, which can carry out researches on the protection and breeding improvement of herbivores. The experimental base can carry out researches on the nutritional requirement of dairy cows and beef cattle, the evaluation of the application effect of feed additives and the nutritional value of feedstuff.

• The utilization of local cattle and sheep breed resources has been conducted, to explore correspondingly genes related to thermal adaptability, milk production performance, growth performance, milk and meat quality and other important economic traits.

• The forage germplasm resource nursery has been established, and more than 100 tropical and subtropical forage germplasm resources have been collected.

• Since its establishment in 2014, the Laboratory of Herbivore and Pratactural Sciences has successively obtained the achievements of one Provincial science and Technology Progress Award, two Agricultural Technology Promotion Award, one national plant new variety right, and two leading varieties in Guangdong Province. During this period, our team published more than 30 articles in technical journals in the domestic and overseas.
